Badoo, a “social dating” web service that helps people to meet new friends online, has become one of the fastest growing applications on Facebook, the popular game Zynga Farmville weeks to catch up in number of users.
The service is little known in English speaking countries, but has become very popular in continental Europe and Latin America, where millions of people use it to flirt online, which often leads to online meetings.
“Facebook is one of my friends. Badoo is a meeting point and find someone else,” said Bart Swanson, a former Amazon executive who Badoo as chief operating officer in September.
In addition to social networks, Badoo competitors including online dating sites like Match.com and eHarmony, which this week added to the basket of goods belonging to the consumer price index for Britain.
“Old dating site where people seek to marry,” said Swanson. “Now, Badoo is really like being in a nightclub.. Most Badoo is meeting new people, chat, flirt and connect.”

That makes the fastest growing services of third parties in the world’s largest social network. It is the second to the city of Ville Zynga, which has 91 million users.
Badoo website has 25 million unique visitors in January, according to comScore, which is considered the social network of 12 popular in Europe.
Although most free applications are on Badoo, a small minority for a monthly fee of 8 € to pay for so-called “superpowers” to speak with more people (7 €). Others pay for their profile for a short time to promote.
